Reassurance

I saw seven white Tundra Swans. They flew above me this morning and immediately caught my attention. Tundra Swans are not a common sight here. I am accustomed to the “honk, ahonk, ahonk” of Canada Geese. The calls of the Tundra Swans were muffled, by comparison… in flight, the birds sounded as if they were reassuring and encouraging each other.

I looked up the symbolic significance of Swans. What I discovered gave me a sense that these beautiful birds were also passing a much-needed message of reassurance and encouragement to me as well. In light of all the horrendous events that have occurred in our Nation over the course of the past four years… and culminated with a riotous insurrection at the Capitol… I believe the traits associated with swans are just that, reassuring and hopeful.

This partial list feels like an Rx for the kind of healing I hope to see in our Country as our new Administration is sworn into office on Wednesday, January 20, 2021:
